Hiring A Cheating Spouse Investigator

After noticing changes in your partner or spouse for weeks or even months, you strongly believe that what you see are signs of an affair but not having concrete evidence, you need to make a decision to overlook the indicators or hire a cheating spouse investigator.  The services of an investigator are hired for various reasons depending on each couple’s situation.

For instance, if a married couple has significant financial assets and no prenuptial agreement has been executed, confirmation of a wife or husbands cheating could help in dividing the wealth fairly.  Of course, some people will use investigative services to take more than the fair share but usually, this is simply done as a means of protection.

You might also hire an investigator to uncover an affair if the two of you have children.  Typically, this would be done so the evidence could be used in a court of law when fighting for custody.  In some cases, a fight for custody can become nasty and even if the cheating spouse is a great parent, the court would likely take this information into account when deciding the primary home of the children.

Regardless of the reason, even if just for peace of mind, it is important to hire the right investigator, someone with experience, a person that is reliable, and an investigator that works from a point of privacy and integrity.  The following tips would be helpful to ensure you hire the best person for the job.

•    Reputable Investigators – The first step would be finding the right investigator.  If you know of someone that has used a professional such as this in the past, then you could ask for the name.  If not, use the power of the internet to locate several different individuals or companies in the city where you live and then conduct phone interviews.  The investigator should be willing to provide references, which need to be checked.

•    Evidence – After hiring an investigator qualified for catching a cheating spouse, you should start organizing any evidence you have.  Of course, the investigator is going to gather his or her evidence, probably in the form of photographs and surveillance documentation but you too should get what you have together.  This might be phone numbers, names, credit card statements, hotel receipts, etc.  You would also need to provide the investigator with information about place of employment and hours worked, as well as places frequented (gym, restaurants, bars).

•    Tracking Options – As a part of the investigation, you would be advised of several tracking options for determining locations where your spouse goes.  Some investigators will conduct a covert operation of surveillance, some will use male or female lures, and some will attach a GPS tracking device to the underside of the person’s car so every location visited could be identified.

•    Computer/Phone Tapping – Investigators are bound by laws when it comes to what they can and cannot do so depending on the state where you live, it may be possible for your spouse’s computer and/or cell phone to be tapped.  If the investigator does not mention this option, you should at least ask.

•    Status Updates – Finally, the investigator should tell you when to expect updates regarding status of the process.  Most offer several updates per week but this would be something to know.
